Music Educator
I have been teaching music for over twenty years. Over those years I have taught thousands of students. I remember giving my first guitar lessons when I was fifteen years old. I loved teaching music then and I still love teaching it today. I believe in the nobility of the profession and am proud to say that I am a music educator.
In 1997 I expanded my private teaching studio and started the Santa Monica Academy of Music, with a commitment to provide high quality music education for students of all levels. Currently, we have twelve teachers and offer private instruction on thirteen different instruments. Additionally, we partner with various local schools to provide instruction for PTA and Booster Club supported school music programs.
Since 2006 I have been on the music faculty at Cal Poly Pomona. I teach various courses, including Applied Studio Guitar, Guitar Ensemble, Guitar Fundamentals, Guitar Literature, Performance Seminar, Musicianship, Music Appreciation, Listening for Style and Structure, Counterpoint, Music Theory, and Advanced Music Theory. Starting January of 2021 I will be in charge of coordinating the guitar studies program at Cal Poly Pomona.
